An 1,850m2
harzardous spill research facility at Environment Canada’s Environmental
Technology Centre. The program included offices and a conference room/cafeteria
serving the entire campus in addition to laboratories and research areas for
the evaluation of hazardous spills clean-up technologies. A primary mandate
for this facility was the containment of the odour laden environment of the
research areas from the adjacent office support areas. All construction is
steel frame with the research component areas clad in steel siding while the
offices and public face of the building are treated with a combination of
brick veneer and glazed curtain wall.
