Historic Garage Rehabilitation and Extension

  • This two-storey historic garage was built in the National Capital Region circa 1911. As part of a National Historic Site of Canada, great consideration was given to the surrounding landscape and vistas in this adaptive reuse project. The primary goal was to rehabilitate the existing heritage building and provide a modern extension with additional floor space for contemporary requirements.

The complete fit-up of the existing building included significant structural and seismic upgrades to current codes, all-new mechanical and electrical systems, life safety systems, roofing, windows, interiors, and finishes. In addition to being designed to LEED Gold standards, both the existing building and addition were designed to be fully accessible with an elevator, accessible washrooms, kitchenette, and shower facilities.
